Abstract
|

|
The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of various environmental conditions on the results of learning ability test by water filled multiple T-maze in 8-week-old SPF Sprague-Dawley rats. The experimental animals were divided into four groups. All animals were subjected to trials of straight channel on the 1st day with exception of group II and to those of multiple T-maze during the following 3 days.
The results obtained were summarized as follows :
1. The time required for the straight channel of the 2nd and 3rd trials was signiticartly shorter than that of the lst in both male and female rats.
2. In male F1 rats. whose dams were treated with Ethylenethiourea a significant increase in the time required for the straight channel was found.
3. In the time required for the multiple T-maze trial of male rats, there were no significant difference between animals with experience of straight channel trials and those without it.
4. The decrease of light intensity(100 Lux) had no effect on the time required for the multiple T-maze as well as number of errors in both sexes.
